Changing patterns of mid face fractures in 21century-A need to redefine lines

To study the changing patterns of mid face fractures using computed tomography scan. 100 patients with midface fracture requiring open reduction and internal fixation were selected for this study. They underwent 2D 3D The lines studied radiographically intraoperatively compared standard Le Fort lines. showed that men ranging from age 21-30 years more likely to suffer women M:F =19:5. Similar lines-24%; 2. Combination fort lines-12%; 3. Deviation lines-64%. 64% deviations 5 categories- V1: Additional line pyriform aperture infraorbital rim same side. (37.17%); V2: connecting rim. (38.46%); V3: orbit's lateral wall without crossing on (12.82%); 4. V4: involving fractured segment, running across canine fossa finishing dentoalveolar segment (5.12%); 5. V5: Pterygoid plates not fractured. (6.41%). Every patient a facial should undergo complete clinical radiographic assessment. In order accurately determine patterns, it is necessary review sectional pictures coupled 3D-reconstructed images. Newer classification needs discussed describe deviation caused high velocity objects. treat promptly establish better communication between surgeon radiologist.
